Redwood Junior Soccer League
969G Edgewater Blvd., Suite 110 Foster City, CA 94404

The Redwood Junior Soccer League is the Registration League for competitive youth soccer teams on the San Francisco Peninsula. We are in District 2-> of the Northern California Youth Soccer Association-> (CYSA-N). We are known as the Redwood League, RedwoodSoccer and RWL.

Teams from Clubs affiliated with the Redwood League play in the Coast, Bay or State Premier Leagues affiliated with the California Competitive Soccer League (CCSL).

Competitive soccer is also known as traveling team or classic soccer. The coaches are often paid and the teams select their players via tryouts. Players will often stay on the same team from season to season. These teams often compete in the Copper and Bronze divisions. Teams will play in 1-2 seasons per year and in 1-4 tournaments per year. Competition is provided for teams from Under 9 (U09) through Under 19 (U19) in single year increments for both boys and girls.

The best competitive soccer teams are promoted to premier soccer. The coaches are typically paid and the teams select their players via tryouts. Players will often stay on the same team from season to season. These teams often compete in the Silver, Gold and Premier divisions. Teams will play in 2-3 seasons per year and in 2 or more tournaments per year. Competition is provided for teams from Under 9 (U09) through Under 19 (U19) in single year increments for both boys and girls.

Players wishing to play competitive soccer must first join a team. Teams belong to a member club. The clubs assist in providing coaches, referees and fields. The Redwood League encompasses clubs from Burlingame to Palo Alto to Half Moon Bay.

The Fall season is the principal soccer season. It starts in early September and runs through early December. Many teams also play in the Spring season. The Spring season starts in Late March and runs through early June. Spring season is less formal and is considered a developmental period. Many teams will practice year round and participate in tournaments.

For further information contact the Club in your community or one of the Redwood League Officers.
